Leadership Development Series: You’ve Got a Strategic Plan – Now What?

This workshop will focus on how to follow through on strategic plans. How do you motivate colleagues to take on the work that needs to be done? How do you prioritize the work? Who can help you make your plan actually work? And what steps can you take, and how long will it take, to see results? The session will begin with remarks from individuals who have had success in strategic planning follow-through, followed by a discussion about what works and what doesn’t.

The Leadership Development Series, sometimes known as “chairs chats,” offers a variety of workshops and seminars for department chairs and academic center directors, along with associate deans and others in management positions. The sessions – some of which follow the peer-to-peer (“chat”) model, and some of which will be led by experienced chairs and other academic leaders – emphasize the development of aptitudes and skills associated with academic leadership. The offerings can be categorized into four main areas:

- Supervision and management
- Budgets and finance
- Climate and inclusion
