Mid-Career Faculty Chat: Thinking Smart about the Promotion Process
March 22, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
This chat will focus on helping mid-career faculty understand how to think productively about advancing to full professor in a way that is not so much about ‘hitting the mark’ as it is about honing the work and becoming great teacher-scholars and academic citizen-leaders. The session may involve a discussion of what mid-career faculty can do to earn promotion, but also focus on broadening the network of mentors and their other professional networks, seeking out more opportunities to broaden and/or deepen their methodological skills or change research direction, and how to engage better with students and the broader public about what they do. In short, it is meant to help associate professors devise smart strategies for promotion and the work that it entails.
Lunch will be provided.
